Today we’ve officially announced some news that some in the urban strategy community already knew: Johanna Pitman, an experienced authority on the challenges facing urban communities, has joined us as Program Director for BlueChilli’s next accelerator program, CityConnect, launching in 2017.
Before BlueChilli, Johanna was the Deputy CEO for the Committee for Sydney, an independent think-tank advocating for global best practice in city-making.
We’re very excited to announce Johanna’s appointment as she brings a deep understanding of urban issues and economic development. As well as the Committee for Sydney, she has held senior roles in Federal and State agencies, and the UK Government’s overseas trade network.
We love Johanna’s passion for connecting the right players to make communities more liveable, prosperous and connected, and she tells us she’s already loving the pace and teamwork within the dynamic BlueChilli environment!
Our CityConnect program is a bold multi-city initiative that will break through the barriers to deploying solutions for fast-growing urban communities. We believe this open innovation program will be the first of its kind to bring together corporates, government, investors and entrepreneurs to identify, develop and pilot great solutions to make better cities.
We can’t wait to tell you more about who the partners are, what sort of startup ideas we’re looking for and when we’ll open for applications, but keep a close eye on http://cityconnect.co as we’ll announce more details soon.
