BlueChilli builds startups using a planned and process-driven methodology with the objective of reducing risk and maximising success rates of startups in our portfolio.

Rethink risk & reward.

Our investment strategy is to mitigate risk through deep engagement in each business, via the supply of development services, founder training through The 156 accelerator program, and mentoring and support through the BlueChilli incubator.

How we operate

BlueChilli’s mandate is to invest in entrepreneurs who have a deep industry or business understanding. We have a process which identifies key characteristics commonly found in successful entrepreneurs and use this to filter over 200 ideas pitched to us every month.

We then provide each startup with a product team that provides services leveraging our ChilliSource framework.  . BlueChilli requires the startups to fund the development using their integrated product team to reduce the risk of Technology.

We have a training program that takes startups through the 156 steps to go from idea to series A.  In effect BlueChilli operates from education to exit with leading entrepreneurs.

Selection committee

In an average month, BlueChilli receives 200 online applications from startup entrepreneurs with all kinds of ideas and all sorts of backgrounds. We meet with about 20 of those entrepreneurs, and invite those few who meet our criteria to participate in our accelerator program.

A four person Selection Committee meets weekly to review our current applications, select entrepreneurs to engage with, and finalise applications.
