Wow. It’s amazing to see how much activity has happened in Sydney since we first put the Startrail map together back in December 2011. What started as a project for one of our graphic design interns has quickly morphed in to something greater. I now see StartRail as one of many tools helping put Sydney startups on the map, and I think it’s working.

This map has been spotted in the Australian headquarters of big corporates such as PwC and Microsoft, it’s printed up in the office of Small Business of the NSW Government, the Universities have it printed and it’s made it’s way over to the big VC houses in Silicon Valley.

The map was never intended to be “comprehensive”, there are over 250 startups and founders working in Fishburners and it would be very tricky to put them all on the map, as Mick from Pollenizer commented to me, it’s going to be awesome to see it printed in A0 in 6 point font! What I do want it to show however is the awesome education, incubation and growth companies that support the community, the likes of Pushstarter, Founders Institute, Startmate, GreenLane, Pollenizer, Fishburners, RightClick, Elevation etc etc that empower this community.

What’s also awesome is that it’s not the only map out there: Theres the UNSW CIE GIG Engine (which StartRail was the inspiration for) and the very pretty
